Week 30 - 50 Crafts/52 Weeks

I recently found this striped fabric in my stash that I was re-organizing. I had originally bought it in spring to make a summer shift and had completely forgotten about it. The fabric is the lightest, sheerest cotton with a faded red stripe.

Summer is here and I finally made that shift! This one almost doesn't feel like it should count because it took all of an hour and was completed right on time for us to head out the door for a little summer road trip.

As a bonus, I'm leaving you with some pictures of the swimsuit under the shift! It's a 1960's swimsuit that I got at a thrift store when I was in high school. And paired to match it is the mighty Mississippi - we drove over it and then along it, something I'd recommend as the scenic highway along the river is unmatched!

I'll post more pictures from the road trip as I upload them!

PS: I just noticed this is my 25th craft! I'm halfway done with the projects for this! Holy smokes!

  1. I'm curious about the pattern--I'd love to make a shift that only takes an hour! It'd probably take me two, with my shaky sewing skills, but that still sounds like my kind of project. Your swimsuit is adorable, too!

  2. Katie - I didn't use a pattern at all. I just cut out the rough shape of a tank top, made it gradually A-line out and then sewed (and overlocked) the sides and hemmed the neckline and sleeves with a thin (1/4 ") hem. I left the hem unfinished...Maybe I should do a tutorial for you folks my next spare afternoon? I have enough fabric for a second (probably shorter) shift and could easily make a video tutorial!

  3. gorgeous! you look so happy in these photos! also love both the shift and your swimsuit.

  4. Great post. Come on over and follow my blog.
