Week 2 - 50 Crafts/52 Weeks

Update: I actually did finish something - a simple blouse out of some stash fabric to wear to school this week. It's drying right now but I'll post it tomorrow!

Phew...this week is my second week of student teaching and I've been pretty swamped with keeping up with that. I've been knitting in my very rare windows of spare time, and I'm about a third of the way finished with the Noble Cowl that I'm working on.

Knitting the Cowl

It looks nothing like the pattern so I'm guessing I'm either not far enough in or I'm a terrible knitter. It's probably the latter, but practice makes perfect, right? This pattern is the first time I've encountered the SSK direction but thankfully handy, dandy youtube videos have helped me figure out what to do. I hope to finish it this week if I can get my hands on some spare time!

To make up for my shortcomings, it seems that other crafters have had their fingers busy.

Rachel at Go Placidly made soap! It's a project I've always wanted to try so I'm a wee bit jealous of her craftiness and I've added it to my running list of crafts to work on. She also finished the baby jacket!

Studio Marlowe started an absolutely elegant pair of gloves and finished the second sweater sleeve!

Maggie at Squishy Things has been busy - she's conquered projects three, four, five, six, and seven. Three and four are cereal bowls. Projects five, six, and seven are more of her neat lace. My favorite is project six - a dissolving lace dog. I'm terrible at explaining so you'll just have to check out the link!

Okac finished her last window scarf and made some fingerless gloves out of old socks - this post has a lovely tutorial attached to it so if you've ever wondered how to do that take a peek!

Fifty First Crafts has joined in with her very detailed and informative blog posts! She's finished felted pillows and a baby sling. Click on the post of the baby sling for pictures of what is quite possibly the most adorable baby ever!

As always, if I've missed anyone, please let me know and I'll add you!

  1. I am jealous of Rachel's soap too!
Everyone has such pretty and inspiring things. I am fed up and have nothing completed yet, but am determind to finish my never ending baby blanket (otherwise known as the Big Bad Baby Blanket, link up on my blog).
Meanwhile am thinking of some quick and satisfying crafty things I can do that will make me feel accomplished .
When I started knitting a river-lace scarf it took quite a while for the pattern to develop and look anything like I hoped. Your cowl is probably like that, it looks like it will be lovely :)
