Winter Hiking

I had planned to go hiking for the first time this winter, and it just so happened that another mountain biker was determined to brave the foot of fresh snow falling on the roads and paths in the woods as well so we went together.

It was great to meet someone new, and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. We both brought our cameras and took a brisk walk through the woods that was punctuated by picture taking.

The first excellent thing we saw were a flock of wild turkeys. There were about six or eight of these giant, rather ugly birds.

  1. Ah, that looks like so much fun! About a month or so ago my friend and I decided last minute one evening to go for a walk. It had snowed a bunch a few days before and there was a full moon. We began around 9p.m. and walked and walked. Talked and talked. We saw a bunch of deer and they never ran off as we walked by. It was so bright that night. For awhile I was freezing, but as I kept going I warmed up and by the end I felt so refreshed (except for a runny nose....) Ahh, sorry for rambling on. You reminded me of a fabulous time I had this winter. I hope I get the chance to do it again soon. :)
